A Brisbane Broncos player has snapped up a dream home in Hendra in a nailbiting auction.
Kotoni Staggs purchased a five-bedroom, two-bathroom home at Hendra for $1.71m.
The 24-year-old Bronco’s centre was previously renting prior to purchasing the home.
The auction opened with a bid of $1.5m, with four registered to bid.
Property agent Chrese Morley from Ray White Ascot, who marketed the property with colleague Keith Mahon, said the result was right where her expectations were.
“Hendra is a very tight-knit pocket with mostly owner-occupied homes,” Ms Morley said.
“Buyers have firm budgets, and they‘re sticking to them; they’re generally really budget aware, which I think will be the new normal now.
“We had interstate interest, families and some overseas buyers that had returned to show interest during the campaign.
“The sellers have upsized to a larger parcel of land in Ascot.

“The spring market is going to be strong; we‘re having lots of conversations with sellers already.”
According to PropTrack, the median house price for Hendra between August 2022 and July 2023 is $1.69m, up 7.3%.
