Bananarama is an English female pop music vocal trio founded in London in 1979 by friends Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey, and Keren Woodward. Following Fahey’s departure from the group in 1988, Jacquie O’Sullivan joined the group for three years, during which time they had UK Top 10 success with the singles “I Want You Back” (#5 in 1988) and “Help!” (#3 in 1989), respectively. The band is also renowned for its vocal style, which is usually unison rather than in harmony, as opposed to other vocal groups. In addition to their chart success, they are also noted for their vocal style. Continuing Bananarama as a pair since 1992, their successes include “Movin’ On” (#24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1992) and “More, More, More” (#24 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1993). After 12 years, they had their first UK Top 40 success with the songs “Move in My Direction” (#14) and “Look on the Floor (Hypnotic Tango)” (#26), which peaked at #14 and #26 respectively.
