Rocker Grace Potter married her college sweetheart and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals bandmate Matt Burr on May 11, 2013. The two musicians kept their nuptials under wraps, only revealing the news via a label rep on Nov. 12.

The afternoon ceremony took place on the island of St. Barths at a private villa owned by a family friend. The bride wore a custom corseted lace gown and the bridegroom a Tom Ford suit. The bride walked down the aisle to the song “Si Tu Vois Ma Mère” by Sidney Bechet and the couple chose the song “Many Rivers to Cross” by Jimmy Cliff for a moment of reflection before taking their marriage vows. The couple’s first dance was to Elvis Presley‘s “Fools Rush In.”
Potter and Burr met in Canton, New York in 2002 while attending St. Lawrence University. Potter was a freshman and Burr a senior. Both pursued their extracurricular passion of music — Potter as a singer-songwriter, Burr as a drummer. The two would later form a band and relocate to Potter’s home in Vermont.

In 2005, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals signed with Hollywood Records and went on to release four albums as well as tour with the likes of The Allman Brothers, Robert Plant and Dave Matthews Band. Potter received a Grammy nomination in 2012 for her duet with Kenny Chesney on the song “You and Tequila.” That same year, the band’s ballad “Stars” cracked the Billboard Hot 100.
In making the wedding announcement, the band’s rep notes: “It’s impossible to disentangle their careers from their personal lives. However, Potter prefers to maintain privacy, often deflecting personal questions about the couple in interviews. Both the bride and groom hope this announcement will finally answers all the relationship questions and they look forward to enjoying a joyful live together.”
