Chris Christian is a composer, record producer, and record label executive who was born in Abilene, Texas on February 7, 195Elvis Presley, Olivia Newton-John, Sheena Easton, The Pointer Sisters, Al Jarreau, The Carpenters, Amy Grant, Patti Austin, Dionne Warwick, America, The Imperials, B.J. Thomas, B W Stevenson, Marilyn McCoo, Dan Peek, Cheryl Ladd, Jane Olivor, Sandi Patti, Ali Lohan, Donnie and Marie Osmond, and others have all recorded his songs. He had two top 40 Billboard Hits on 20th Century Records as a part of the Cotton, Lloyd & Christian trio (put together by Mike Curb) in the early 1970s. On Dick Clark’s American Bandstand and Midnight Special, the band played. He appeared on The Merv Griffin Show, Solid Gold, and was a judge on Star Search as a solo performer. Christian has also performed with Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, and the Wayne Newton band on guitar. He is best known as the record producer who launched Amy Grant’s career by signing her to his production company at the age of 16 and informing Myrrh Records executive Stan Moser that he was working on an album with Amy as part of a long-term production agreement Christian had signed with Myrrh Records. Christian produced her first album and served as executive producer on her second, delegating production to his college buddy Brown Bannister.
